Waiting...

It's Saturday, which means that the bf returns from his NYC trip today! I know I'm used to long distance, but since he was in another country this week, not being able to text or talk has been lonely!
Here is how I've been spending my Saturday anxiously awaiting his arrival:
1) Wore my fun tribal/ikat shorts out and about
2) Painted my nails in OPI's "My Chihuahua Bites"
3) Finished my Domino book that my guy got me for my birthday..
right in time because I received this Design Sponge book in the mail from
my lovely and thoughtful friend Breana. Thank you so much Bre for all of your support and love!
4) Finally found some acrylic trays. So happy.
^ Bre and I at graduation.
Hope you all are having a great weekend! I'll be posting again tomorrow in honour of  Canada Day!

Learning How to Blog

via
I've been blogging for a few months now, and it's taken me awhile to really figure out exactly what I want to convey through my blog and how to do that. I took a major step by investing in a new blog design that would make the impression I want to make. The biggest lesson I've learned is that blogging is a huge time commitment (more than I had bargained for or anticipated), but definitely worth it.
I've still got ALOT of learning to do, which is why I was so excited to discover that Alt is offering us their online blogging classes  for free with Bing! #thanksbing
There are so many amazing classes to choose from. The times helped me narrow it down a little bit..I don't get off work until 3 pm (so I have to pass up some great ones about inspiration board design and graphic design...maybe next time). But, I would love to take "Growing Readership" and "Getting Started with Advertising for Bloggers". "Blogging 101: The Basics for Getting a Head Start" would be a great alternative!

It's the Summer of Doing with Bing! Spread the word to get in on this amazing deal HERE. Woo! Have a great weekend everyone :)

Favourite Furniture Fridays: My Best Friend Craig

Hi Everyone!  I'm Charmaine from My Best Friend Craig.  I'm so happy to be here at Tiffany Leigh Interior Design to share to you my favorite piece of furniture.

When we moved to our first house 3 years ago, we didn't own much furniture.  I am a bargain shopper and I love all things vintage.  I would shop on craigslist (hence my blog name), thrift shops and antique malls most of the time.  But I am also a big fan of mixing old and new.  High and low.  So when it came to the sofa,  I knew I had to buy an investment piece.

I fell in love the minute I saw this...
a charcoal gray tufted sofa.

I actually love it so much that we were fortunate to get a second one as a house warming present from my parents...
I love the modern lines and they are so comfy too!  These are definite keepers!

Thanks Tiffany for having me over today!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Charmaine is such a wonderful blogger and blog friend, you all must go check her out. She has so many gorgeous pieces, I don't know how she narrowed it down (like check out those X-benches and marble coffee table). This sofa is classified as a tuxedo sofa because the height of the arms is the same height as the back! A tuxedo sofa is on my MUST HAVE list for my future house.

Weigh in on: Art on the Floor

This shh cray...or is it? Today I'd like you readers to weigh in on a question I've been pondering lately: Does art on the floor look chic, or simply unfinished? Part of me says hang those babies! And the other part thinks that when it's done right it looks totally cool. I'd be a bit nervous of knocking it over though (I'm quite clumsy). As you can see, I'm torn...so you vote! Yes or No?
via
^ The pallet ties it all in in this dreamy, girly space.
via
^ The fashion inspired elements of these prints and the colouring compliment the dining room's chic style perfectly. Would the walls looks too blank if the writing wasn't there?
unknown source?
^I think that this one looks good because of the leaning art on the higher level. It looks balanced and purposeful, as opposed to "I'm too lazy to hang this right now".

So...did you decide? xo

Touches of Tassels

Gone are the days when tassels indicated formality in the form of elaborate drapery ties. Tassels are now fun and trendy, and I adore them (Could you tell by my header?). The fact that Audrey wore tassel earplugs in Breakfast at Tiffany's show that these can be timeless beauties as well!

Did you catch out my bathroom reveal yesterday? If not,  check it out!
There is some more tasseled goodness to be seen in there. xo

This Blogger's Bathroom

I recently had a request to show more of my living space, and so today I have a little treat for all of my readers: My bathroom!
Before getting my hands on this space, it was covered in (I kid you not) floor to ceiling fish wallpaper. I don't have a picture so you will just have to trust me on this one. When my brothers moved out I knew it was time to glamify and girlify the space. I couldn't change any of the major elements like flooring, layout, countertops, tiles or the tub and my budget was very limited, but I'm in love with the room now! Here is the finished result:
My favourite detail is the pink depression glass pieces from my mother. I also love the little details like the crystal knobs and shower curtain hooks and the tassels. The black swirl painting is a piece I created.
What do you all think? I'm anxious for some feedback!

Concrete Jungle Where Dreams are Made

One day soon, I will make it to New York. I'm so jealous that my boyfriend is heading there TOMORROW for a father-son bonding trip with his dear ol' dad...(umm..where was my invite? I'm fine just wandering around all the shops while you two do your boy things, promise!). In all seriousness though I know it'll be a wonderful trip for them, and I've decided to dedicate today's post to a little NYC lovin' in decor.

via
^ How about this lovely New York poster, here featured three different ways in the home of Sofia from Mokkasin. The poster is the 2010 Guide to Manhattan by David Ehrenstråhle and it is, unfortunately, sold out. That crazy bf of mine is a lot obsessed with maps, and with New York, so this would be the perfect piece of art for him.

^^ Next, I adore this gallery wall in Jackie of York Avenue's tiny studio apartment featuring two New York inspired artworks! I especially love the watercolor skyline!
Get the Manhattan word map HERE
and the Skyline HERE.

^^^ I've posted about the amazing work of Henry Hargreaves before.
Here he creates the NYC subway map out of ribbon...this could be an easy DIY in marker though...hmmm.

I recently saw a gorgeous vintage New Yorker poster with artwork by George Steiner at the local antique shop of this cover blown up extra large:

It was $90 and have never read the New Yorker, so I passed it up, but now I'm rethinking. Could be a fabulous addition, and a way to keep the city close to my heart until I get my own chance to visit!
Have you ever been to New York?!

ps. Now that the new blog design is up an running, I'm hoping to resume Furniture Favourite Fridays next week. E-mail me at tiffanyleighinteriordesign@gmail.com if you're interested in participating in the series!

Fun Fabric: Orange and Pink

Remember my post about orange last week featuring the home of Marlie Waks and her perfect hot pink and orange bedroom? Well, I wanted to quickly share with you all this fabulous fabric from Tonic Living that instantly reminded me of Marlie's space (and grapefruit).
See what I mean?
The fabric is 'Make Waves' in Sorbet, from the Modern Essentials Collection by Waverly. It's a beautiful geometric, trellis inspired pattern, and at only $18.95 per yard, it's an absolute steal and simply too good not to share! Get yours HERE.

Snuggle Up

After a week full of somewhat personal posts, I'm back to the regular routine and this means back to interior design goodness for you all!
Over the years, I've trained myself to snuggle up under a blanket while watching TV.  In fact, if I'm watching a show without one, I feel pretty naked. That's why in the middle of summer, on a hot hot day, you'll still find me snuggled up under a throw.

My top choice would be a Hermes throw. They are so elegant, and yet I think the trademark 'H' adds some quirk.
Unfortunately, at nearly $1000 a pop, I will probably never own one of these.

As a second (more realistic) option, I'm also loving this throw spotted in Cassandra Lavalle's bedroom.
This throw is by Lemlem textiles. These are closer to $300. A great lightweight option!
Lastly, the throws by Coco Cozy are so lovely. It uses the company logo, which reminds me of an elaborate  greek key.
These are also around $300. The price is still a bit steep for me, but it could be worth the investment as it's both a functional and beautiful piece. Afterall, what's the use of having a gorgeous couch if you cover it up with a less than lovely blanket?
Which of these is your favourite?
