I think painting the wood black is a...Great steal!! I think painting the wood black is a great idea... if you have black throughout the rest of your furniture/overall concept. If you did paint it black, your throw pillows for the couch could maybe have just a HINT of black in them too - that'd really pull it all together nicely!
