The Tale of Two Sittings: Double Seating Areas

FYI The English major in me loves the cheesy title of today's post...
I love the idea of having a living room with more than one seating area.Obviously you need a lot of room to achieve this, but it feels so refined and charming. One for lounging, one for having intimate conversations by the fire...the combinations are endless really!

I love the top two images with the chaise or bench dividing the space, they have my heart. It's a clever furniture choise because the chaise can be used for either sitting area as it is open on both sides. Windsor Smith's use of the back to back sofa is pretty neat too. What do you all think?

I love the look of back to back sofas and separate seating areas, especially in a formal living room that isn't used for the daily hanging out activities :)

I'm crazy about the "look". I have tried over and over to pull it off, but my room is too small.

I would take that first image lock stock and barrel!

Ahhh these spaces are so cool! Perfect for a cocktail party where people mingle in different parts of the room! Wish I had room to do this!

I am crazy about the double seating idea as well. Totally need to find a place where I can just do it ... that's if Chris decides to buy a house instead of a condo.

I also loved the one Sarah Richardson did in the London apartment. so dreamy!

For those who have the space for it, I'm definitely in favour of multiple seating areas.
